Grizzly Ultra 50km

It still seems surreal to me that I actually finished this race. My first run of the year was with Caity Buckell, during a work sprint in March. We actually get a lot of things done for Golf & Tacos during discussions; it helps guide a lot of our tasks and decisions down the road when we collaborate a lot. So I joined her on a run (she ran the Sinister Death Race in 23 hours 23 minutes…) and I barely made it 2km without needing a break. It was embarassing.

I think it was within the next couple weeks that I decided to sign up for a race. I hired a coaching team of Carla Robbins and Nicholas Simpson ( Vital Strength & Physiology ), and a care team in Coalition Performance Care (Tish, Cass, Amy and Ainsley all helped!). I got a Coros GPS watch to track my runs, and used a program called Training Peaks to manage my workouts, fitness and other metrics.

It was a beautiful day in Canmore and my goal was to finish the race which I did, and I hit a golf ball across the finish line!

The first thing to success, is signing up. I encourage all of you to sign up for something that might intimidate you; a golf tournament!
