Junior Lessons

THE ACADEMY

Junior Lesson Formats

We are focused on developing junior golfers into truly competent athletes, some of whom will have the necessary high-level aptitudes and ambition to perform and ultimately win at the highest level of the game.

In addition to learning a golf curriculum that includes swing technique, etiquette, course management, equipment, short game and putting skills, we also strive to improve each golfers psychological and physical skills.

Psychological

With respect to psychological development, it is imperative to meet the player where he/she is at, as every individual has their own sense of readiness for psychological development.

Key mental skills include:
• Emotional regulation (includes self-awareness)
• Goal-setting (process vs. outcome)
• Maintaining perspective
• Ideal performance state
• Imagery
• Self-talk

Physical

Physical training can improve all aspects of a golfer’s performance by enhancing flexibility, increasing club head speed, and improving shot accuracy. Ensuring a solid foundation of physical literacy will assist in the prevention of injuries and increased performance and endurance.

Five key physical proficiencies include:
• Agility, Balance and Coordination
• Flexibility or suppleness
• Core strength and stability
• Strength and power
• Cardiovascular endurance

Private Lessons

Each junior golfer is different, and if you choose private lessons, the programming will be customized completely based on their developmental age and goals.

Often junior golfers need private lessons instead of group classes for a variety of reasons; scheduling difficulties, varied developmental ages, convenience for parents, and instructor preference.

Some players learn initially much better in a private setting. The goal for juniors is to blend fun and development so group classes are a great compliment to the private sessions.

Group Training

In our Future Links junior classes and camps, we ensure the appropriate concepts, benchmarks, goals, and objectives for each developmental age are in the learning material for each class.

This group style lesson format combines golf lessons with a social atmosphere. Your junior golfer will meet other kids and could make long term friends in the game of golf. Structured much more like a ‘gym class’, the kids will be active and safe, following all Covid-19 guidelines.

Playing Lessons

Juniors need to learn the etiquette, procedures and all the decision making moments on the actual golf course. Our Par-3 course playing lessons give us the opportunity to learn these things in a safe environment. This is recommended after private and group classes (Blue and Black level classes do play the par 3)
